On certificate-checker.com we use only the cookies that are needed to make the site work. We place no tracking cookies and share no data with advertisers or other third parties. That is why you see no cookie banner here: purely functional cookies do not require consent.
1. Which cookies we place
Session cookie — keeps track that it is you for as long as you are signed in. Without this cookie you cannot sign in. It disappears when you sign out or when the session expires.
Security cookie (XSRF token) — protects forms against misuse from other websites. This one is functional and temporary as well.
There are no other cookies. We use no cookies to follow you across websites, and no third-party cookies.
2. How we measure visits
We want to know which pages are read and where visitors get stuck. For that we use Matomo, a web analytics package that we run on our own infrastructure. So no visit data goes to Google or to any other external party — that is a deliberate choice.
Our Matomo installation is configured so that no cookies are placed and IP addresses are shortened before they are stored. As a result we do not recognise you between visits, and we cannot trace the statistics back to you as a person. What we see is aggregated: which pages were viewed, from which type of device, and through which referring site.
If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we do not measure your visit. Nor do we count visitors who use a content blocker — and we are fine with that.
3. What happens in the dashboard
In the dashboard we measure page visits in the same way: same Matomo, same cookieless configuration. We use it to see which screens are used, not to follow individual behaviour.
4. Refusing or deleting cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block the functional cookies, you cannot sign in — the rest of the website remains readable. Because we place no tracking cookies, there is nothing further to refuse.
